A New Path to Becoming a Solicitor
Our funded Trainee Solicitors SQE Apprenticeship Programme offers you the opportunity to gain real-world experience while studying for your legal qualifications and earning as you learn.
At GloverPriest, we’re excited to help young aspiring legal professionals start their careers. Through our Trainee Solicitor Programme, you’ll receive on-the-job training while studying for a law degree and the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE) over two or six years*. This approach allows you to apply what you learn in real-world scenarios, ensuring you are career-ready by the time you qualify.

Why a Solicitor Apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is a great alternative to the traditional university route. You get hands-on experience, earn a salary, and avoid university debt. In fact, according to Legal Cheek, the average law student accumulates up to £96,444 of debt upon graduation, and our apprenticeship programme is designed to help you avoid this burden.
Our Trainee Solicitor route lets you learn on the job, applying what you study in real-world situations.
What is the LLB (Hons) Programme?
The LLB (Hons) Programme is an academic qualification that is part of our apprenticeship route. It’s a law degree awarded by Nottingham Trent University, which you’ll study for part-time while gaining practical experience at GloverPriest.
Will I qualify as a Solicitor at the end of the programme?
Yes, upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, including the academic and practical components, you will qualify as a solicitor. This qualification is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). Doing an apprenticeship is an alternate route to becoming a solicitor and functions differently to a degree with more of a practical focus.
What do law apprenticeships involve?
A law apprenticeship involves 80% paid work and 20% paid study and training. Your work will be assessed by Nottingham Trent University and GloverPriest. On average you will attend Nottingham Trent University every 8-10 weeks for 3 full days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) for study, plus you’ll have access to the campus library and onsite courtrooms.
Your assessments will be different for each subject; you will either sit a written exam at Nottingham Trent University or complete a piece of coursework. Then you will work towards the Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE), Part 1&2. Upon successful completion, subject to SRA Character and Suitability test, you can become a qualified Solicitor.
How will I be supported?
You will receive continuous support from a dedicated GloverPriest Mentor and experienced solicitors throughout your apprenticeship. Additionally, Nottingham Trent University provides academic support and resources to help you succeed in your studies.
Do you offer any work experience?
We do offer occasional work experience opportunities. These are designed to give you a taste of working in a legal environment and to help you decide if a legal career is right for you. Check the link above for availability and application details.
How much will I be paid?
Our apprentices receive a competitive salary that’s designed to be fair and supportive of your development.
How many roles are available, where are they based, and when will they start?
We typically offer several apprenticeship roles each year, based across our various offices. The exact number of roles and locations can vary, so please check our website for the most current information. The programme generally starts in September, but specific start dates will be communicated during the recruitment process.
