"My progression at GloverPriest has been driven by determination, hard work, and the supportive environment around me."
I joined GloverPriest in the summer of 2021 as a conveyancing assistant in the Wellingborough office. When the Market Harborough office opened, I moved there alongside Gemma Hales. Over the following year and a half, I developed my skills, took on more responsibility, and eventually transitioned into a full conveyancer role in October 2023.
Throughout my journey, I gained experience in all aspects of residential property transactions, including sales, purchases, remortgages, and transfers of equity.
How I Transitioned from Assistant to Conveyancer
My progression at GloverPriest has been driven by determination, hard work, and the supportive environment around me. When I first started as a second assistant, my role focused mainly on administrative tasks and supporting my conveyancer with managing client files. As I gained more experience, I became the first assistant and took on a much more active role in client communication and transactions.
Over time, I began handling responsibilities such as opening client files, carrying out legal research, preparing reports, completing financial calculations for transactions, and managing the post-completion process, including Land Registry applications.
Becoming a conveyancer was a major step in my career. It meant taking full ownership of my work, providing legal advice directly to clients, and independently managing transactions from start to finish. It has also allowed me to build strong relationships with clients during some of the most important moments in their lives.
My Education and Professional Development
Although a university degree isn’t essential to become a conveyancer, I’ve always been passionate about continuing my professional development. I’m currently studying towards my licence with the Council of Licensed Conveyancers (CLC), which involves completing degree-level courses and assignments.
Achieving this qualification will strengthen my expertise in property law and allow me to sign legal documentation independently.
One of the things I value most about GloverPriest is the support the firm has given me throughout my training. The firm has covered the costs of my CLC qualification, which has been incredibly encouraging and has shown me how committed they are to supporting their employees’ growth and development.
What I Find Most Rewarding About My Role
The most rewarding part of my role is helping clients through significant milestones in their lives, whether that’s buying their first home, moving to a new property, or starting a new chapter.
I genuinely enjoy building relationships with clients and helping them navigate what can often feel like a stressful and emotional process. Seeing everything come together successfully after overcoming challenges is incredibly satisfying.
As my caseload has grown, I’ve also taken on an assistant of my own, which has been a really positive experience.
“I love the relationships I build with clients. It’s so rewarding to help them achieve their goals, whether it’s buying their first home or selling to start a new chapter.”
My Future Goals at GloverPriest
Looking ahead, I’d like to continue growing my team and eventually bring on another assistant to help manage my increasing workload. Right now, my main focus is completing my CLC qualification while continuing to provide the highest level of service to my clients.
“In the next five years, I see myself as a more experienced conveyancer with a solid team around me. I want to ensure we’re providing the best service possible.”
What It’s Like Working at GloverPriest
Working at GloverPriest has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The firm has an excellent reputation within the industry, and I take great pride in being part of a company that values high standards, responsiveness, and client care.
One of the best things about working here is the culture. Everyone genuinely supports one another, and there’s a real sense of teamwork throughout the office.
“We genuinely care about each other here. It’s nice to work in a place where everyone is willing to help, especially when things get busy.”
I especially enjoy the atmosphere within the Market Harborough office, where colleagues are always willing to lend a hand during busy periods. Conveyancing can be demanding and fast-paced, so having a supportive team around you makes a huge difference.
“I feel lucky to be part of a firm that truly values its people and strives for excellence every day.”
The Support I’ve Received in My Leadership Role
I currently manage my assistant, and work closely with them to ensure we stay aligned and continue supporting each other’s development.
Before this, I met with Gemma Hales, who explained my new responsibilities and reassured me that support would always be available whenever I needed it. That guidance made the transition into a leadership role feel much smoother.
“Having someone like Gemma to guide me has been invaluable. It’s great to know that I can reach out if I have questions or need advice.”
